Nose / Paranasal sinuses
Nasus / Sinus paranasales
Definition
The nose and the paranasal sinuses form an essential anatomical region of the skull, involved in respiration, olfaction, and sound resonance.
The nose consists of an external part, visible on the face, and an internal part, made up of the nasal cavities.
The paranasal sinuses are air-filled cavities within the bones of the head, lined with respiratory mucosa and communicating with the nasal cavities.
