Apex of nose; Tip of nose

Apex nasi

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The apex or tip of the nose is part of the nose, located on the face. It is bordered by the nostrils. It forms the rostral end of the dorsum of the nose and overhangs the upper lip, with which it constitutes the snout.

The arrangement and appearance of the apex of the nose, as well as the shape of the nostrils, vary greatly from one species to another.

While in humans the tip of the nose is clearly prominent and well separated from the upper lip, in domestic mammals this end of the nose merges with it and forms the snout.
