Inferior border of heart
Margo inferior cordis
- Synonym: Acute margin of heart
Definition
The inferior border of the heart (acute margin of the heart) is the anatomical margin formed by the inferior part of anterior surface of right ventricle, with a small contribution from the apex of the left ventricle. This border is oriented obliquely, separating the anterior (sternocostal) surface from the inferior (diaphragmatic) surface of the heart.
The inferior border is closely related to the central tendon of the diaphragm.
