Jejunal veins
Venae jejunales
Definition
The jejunal veins are tributaries of the superior mesenteric vein for the draining of jejunum.
The first and second jejunal veins (J1V and J2V) often form a common trunk known as the first jejunal trunk (FJT) in approximately 84% of patients. This trunk can be located either dorsal or ventral to the superior mesenteric artery (SMA).[1-2] The FJT typically drains into the SMV, although variations exist where the J1V and J2V drain separately into the superior mesenteric vein.
