Basal fold

Plica basalis

Definition

Chloé Paris

The basal fold lies ventrally to the alar fold. Its rostral end goes to the lateral edge of the nasal floor, sometimes it joins the alar fold at its end. Caudally it joins the rostral end of the ventral turbinate except in equids where it is lost in the wall of the ventral nasal meatus.
