Costal angle

Angulus costae

Definition

Géraldine Lefeuvre, Andréa Lopes da Costa

The costal angle is the area of pronounced curvature in the vertebral portion of the rib bone, connecting the dorsal part to the body. It is located distally near the costal tubercle.

It marks the point where the rib changes direction, contributing to the convexity of the rib cage.
