Collum costae
Definition
The neck of the rib is the narrow portion at the junction between the head and the body. On its cranial border is the crest of costal neck.
Its length varies depending on the rib's position.
Variation:
In dogs and cats, it is no longer present from the eleventh rib onwards, which also loses its tubercle.
