Gyrus diagonalis
Gyrus diagonalis
Definition
The diagonal gyrus of the rhinencephalon is located between the olfactory tubercle and the optic chiasma and tract, and is continuous with the paraterminal gyrus of the septum.
It contains the diagonal lamella, whose axons join the medial forebrain bundle to convey information from olfaction-related nuclei to the hypothalamus.
This gyrus is more developed in domestic mammals than in humans.
