Lacrimal bulla
Bulla lacrimalis
Definition
In Bulls, the lacrimal bone is extermely developed, much longer than wide. Its facial surface, that has no rostral lacrimal process, is stretched rostrally beyond the zygomatic bone; its connects with the nasal bone until the middle of it. The orbital surface only presents a weak fossa for the lacrimal sac, with a lacrimal foramen carved just against the prominent caudal lacrimal process. The fossa for the ventral oblique muscle of the eye is neat.
The most remarkable feature, in this species, is the development of a lacrimal bulla (Bulla lacrimalis) extremely prominent in the bottom of the orbit. The cavity of this bulla is annexed to the maxillary sinus.
