Linea alba

Linea alba

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The linea alba is a fibrous structure that runs along the midline of the ventral abdominal wall. It is formed by the interweaving of the aponeuroses of the abdominal muscles (external oblique, internal oblique, and transversus abdominis).

It extends from the xiphoid process of the sternum to the pubic symphysis.
