Renal sinus

Sinus renalis

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The renal sinus is a fat-filled cavity within the kidney that is located centrally and surrounded by the renal parenchyma. It contains the renal pelvis, major and minor calyces, blood vessels, lymphatics, and nerves. The renal sinus serves as a conduit for these structures as they enter and exit the kidney at the renal hilum.
