Right fibrous ring

Anulus fibrosus dexter

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The right fibrous ring (annulus fibrosus dexter) of the heart is a component of the fibrous skeleton that surrounds the right atrioventricular (tricuspid) valve orifice. It is composed of dense connective tissue that provides structural support to the valve cusps, maintaining the shape and integrity of the opening during the cardiac cycle. This ring also serves as an attachment site for the tricuspid valve leaflets and adjacent myocardial fibers, contributing to coordinated valve function while participating in the electrical insulation between the atrial and ventricular myocardium.
