Definition

Antoine Micheau

The left coronary sulcus is a groove on the heart's surface that demarcates the boundary between the left atrium and the left ventricle. It is also known as the left portion of the atrioventricular groove.

Within this sulcus, the circumflex branch of the left coronary artery and the great cardiac vein course together, running posteriorly from the left atrioventricular junction at the crux of the heart, toward the coronary sinus.
