Definition
The perforating vein of the first intermetatarsal space connects the superficial venous system of the dorsum of the foot to the deep plantar venous system. It is located in the first intermetatarsal spaceand traverses the interosseous space, passing through the deep fascia and interosseous muscles, and is closely associated with the first dorsal metatarsal artery and its branches, as well as the deep plantar perforating branch of the dorsalis pedis artery.
