The basilar part of the occipital bone is the portion of the occipital bone formed by the basioccipital bone. It is the most ventral portion of the occipital bone, extending rostrally to the occipital condyles, between the tympanic bullae. The basilar part of the occipital bone bears the pontin impression and the medullar impression on its inner surface.
