Definition

Andréa Lopes da Costa

The orbital surface of the maxilla is the dorsal and internal surface of the maxilla body, facing the orbital cavity.

It contributes to the formation of the floor of the orbit, thus supporting the eyeball and periorbital structures. This surface is generally smooth, sometimes slightly concave, and features infraorbital foramina or grooves that allow the passage of nerves and vessels destined for the facial region.
