Palatine sinus

Sinus palatinus

Definition

In Bulls and, to a smaller degree, in small Ruminants, the palatine sinus (Sinus palatinus), an extension of the maxillary sinus, invades the palatine process of the maxilla and the body of the palatine bone itself.

It is always separated from the one of the opposite side by an imperforated median septum (Septum sinuum palatinorum).
