Right triangular ligament
Ligamentum triangulare dextrum
Definition
The right triangular ligament is a fibrous peritoneal fold that connects the posterior part of the right lobe of the liver to the diaphragm. It is formed by the merging of the anterior and posterior layers of the coronary ligament on the right side.
This ligament helps anchor the liver in place within the abdominal cavity and is particularly well-defined in large domestic animals such as horses and ruminants. It is less prominent in small animals like dogs and cats.
