Falciform ligament of liver

Ligamentum falciforme hepatis

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The falciform ligament is a thin, sickle-shaped fold of peritoneum that attaches the liver to the ventral abdominal wall and diaphragm. It is typically located between the left and quadrate lobes of the liver and contains the remnant of the umbilical vein in the form of the round ligament of the liver.
