Vomerine crest

Crista vomeris

Definition

Thin and sharp, more or less protruding according to the species, the vomerine crest (Crista vomeris) is the caudal, or guttural part of the ventral part of the vomer bone.

It is cast as a bridge from the body of the sphenoïd bone to the dorsal surface of the palatine vault; it separates the two choanes (the guttural openings of the cavities of the nose) on the median plane.
