Zygomatic process
Processus zygomaticus
- Related terms: Zygomatic process of frontal bone
Definition
The zygomatic process is a prominent bony projection, lateral to the orbit, extending to a point from the temporal surface of the frontal bone.
Variation:
In carnivores, it does not fully extend to the zygomatic arch and only partially defines the orbit. The orbital ligament attaches to it.
In equids and ruminants, it is fully extended and joins the zygomatic arch.
