Foramen mentale
Definition
The mental foramen is the opening of the mandibular canal, on the lateral surface of the rostral end of the body of mandible. It is unique in equines and cattle, whereas there are two mental foramina in dogs and cats.
The mental artery, mental vein and mental nerve emerge from the mandibular canal through the mental foramen.
