Angular process
Processus angularis
Definition
The angular process is located on the caudal edge of the mandibular ramus, at the level of the mandibular angle. This process is prominent in carnivores and serves to attach the pterygoid muscles medially and the masseter muscle laterally. In Equidae, Ruminants (with the exception of the Camel), Humans and Pigs, it is absent and is replaced only by a simple roughness.
