Definition

The body (Corpus) of the presphenoid bone is described together with the one of the basosphenoid bone to avoid to complicate uselessy the description.

It is more or less related from one side to the other and is equiped with insertions imprints caudally that complete the muscular tubercules of the occipital bone.

Its rostral end is partially hidden by the vomer. In certain species, it holds a weak median crest.
