Definition
In Equidae and Ruminants, the stylohyoid angle or 'heel of the hyoid bone' is a characteristic caudal extension of the enlarged dorsal extermity of the stylohyoid bone, a long thin bony plate that is usually the longest part. It gives attachment to the occipitohyoid and stylohyoid muscles.
