Fascia buccopharyngea
Definition
The buccopharyngeal fascia covers the buccinator muscle and the facial vessels and nerves. It extends rostrally from the lips and caudally above the mandible, continuing into the masseteric fascia. Dorsally, it is continuous with the temporal fascia. Ventromedially, it extends into the intermandibular space with the masseteric fascia, and covers the mylohyoid muscle and the basihyoid.
