Crista facialis

Definition

The facial crest (Crista facialis) is located on the lateral side of the facial surface of the skull; it crosses the zygomatic bone and extends more or less far on the maxilla, to end on the facial tubercle (Tuber faciale). It varies much according to the species:

-In Carnivorous and Porcines, it is short.

-In Ruminants and Equidae, it is very prominent.
