Definition
The top, or the bottom of the orbit corresponds to a broad deep depression, carved at the limit between the presphenoid and the basisphenoid bones, and completed in certain species by the frontal bone. This depression, that disserves the name of orbital fossa, is bordered caudally by the pterygoid crest (Crista pterygoidea), that spreads until the base of the pterygoid process.
