The wings of the basisphenoid bone are paired bony projections, larger in size compared to the same structures of the presphenoid bone. The surfaces of the wing project towards various structures, such as the brain, the maxilla, the orbital cavity, and the temporal bone.

At the base of each wing, precisely in the region of communication with its body of the basisphenoid bone, several foramina are formed, which serve as passageways for various structures. The wing is part of the basisphenoid bone, and this belongs to one of the segments of the sphenoid bone.
