Rostral alar foramen

Foramen alare rostrale

Definition

Stephan Mahler

The rostral alar foramen is described in ruminants and dogs. It opens at the base of the pterygoid process of the basisphenoid bone. This foramen corresponds to the rostral opening of the alar canal and is the point of passage of the maxillary artery and vein.
