The sella turcica belongs to body of the basisphenoid bone. It is formed by the caudal clinoid processes, the hypophysial fossa, the dorsum sellae.

Evans and de Lahunta (2013) described the rostral clinoid process of the presphenoid bone's wings as part of the sella turcica in dogs.
