Greater palatine canal

Canalis palatinus major

Definition

Stephan Mahler

The greater palatine canal is a bony passage that runs through the palatine bone. This canal transmits the descending palatine artery, which is a branch of the maxillary artery, and the greater palatine nerve from the greater palatine foramen to the pterygopalatine fossa. These structures are crucial for supplying the hard palate and the nasal cavity.
