Processus pyramidalis
Definition
The pyramidal process (Processus pyramidalis) is located on the free part of the caudal border of the perpendicular plate of the palatine bone.
In Humans, it forms a sharp relief;
in Pigs, it is a thick and prominent tuberosity in front of the pterygoid fossa;
in Equidae, it is an everted plate;
in Ruminants, it is reduced to simple roughness;
in Carnivores, it is missing.
