Interparietal process

Processus interparietalis

Definition

At the dorsocaudal extremity of the skull of most domestic animals, the interparietal process (Processus interparietalis) is the prominent dorsal angle formed by the  interparietal bone rostrally to the external occipital protuberance that connects it to the dorsal part of the occipital bone (absent in Ruminants and Pigs).

N.B.: the squamous part of the occipital bone and the interparietal bone can be studied together, because they merges early on in several species.
