Nuchal crest
Crista nuchae
Definition
The external occipital protuberance is continued on each side by the nuchal crest (Crista nuchae) that is very prominent in the species where it contributes to form the 'nuchal bend'; in the others, it is reduced to a simple nuchal line (Linea nuchale) that corresponds to the superior nuchal line of the occipital bone in Men.
N.B.: The inferior nuchal line, visible in Men, is usually not visible in domestic animals.
