The condyloid canal is only described in humans, ruminants and dogs. It is located in the lateral part of the occipital bone, between the hypoglossal canal rostrally and the foramen magnum caudally. Its arrangement varies from one species to another and within the same species. The condyloid canal is wide and contains the basilar sinus.
