The lateral hypothalamic region is the lateral part of the intermediate hypothalamus, containing the lateral tuberal nuclei and the tuberomammillary nucleus. It is involved in regulating appetite, arousal, and communication with neighboring hypothalamic nuclei and the neurohypophysis for endocrine and homeostatic control.
