Gluteobiceps muscle

Musculus gluteobiceps [glutaeobiceps]

Definition

IMAIOS

In Ungulates, the gluteobiceps muscle results from the intimate fusion of the biceps femoris muscle with the gluteofemoral muscle.

In Ruminants, the superficial gluteal muscle is additionally incorporated into this complex, losing its independent identity and being recognizable only by a slightly different orientation of its fibers. As a result, the gluteobiceps muscle is particularly broad in Ruminants.
