Musculus quadratus femoris

  • Synonym: Quadrate muscle of thigh

Definition

Origin: Ventral surface of the ischium medial to the lateral angle of the ischial tuberosity.

Insertion: Intertrochanteric crest

Action: Extension and lateral rotation of the hip joint.

Nerve: Ischiadicus.
