Flexor digitorum [digitalis] superficialis muscle - Tendon

Musculus flexor digitorum [digitalis] superficialis - Tendo

Definition

Felipe Barona Lopez

The tendon of the flexor digitorum [digitalis] superficialis muscle prolongs the muscle at the level of the tibia before attaching partially to the calcaneal tuberosity and then extending along the metatarsal to attach to the flexor tuberosity of the middle phalanx. This tendon is sometimes referred to as the perforated tendon in equines, in reference to its relationship with the tendon of flexor digitorum [digitalis] lateralis muscle, also known as the perforating tendon.
