Musculus gluteofemoralis [glutaeo-] - Origo
Definition
The origin of the gluteofemoral muscle varies depending on the species, and can be located on the first caudal vertebrae, the median sacral crest, the dorsal sacroiliac ligaments, and/or the sacrotuberous ligament.
Variations:
In equines, the origin is mainly on the median sacral crest, on the dorsal sacroiliac ligaments, and on part of the sacrotuberous ligament; origins on the caudal vertebrae become accessory.
