Extensor digitalis longus muscle - Tendon
Musculus extensor digitalis longus - Tendo
Definition
The tendon of extensor digitalis or digitorum longus muscle extends the fleshy body of the muscle from the second half of the tibia. Depending on the number of fingers, this muscle produces as many tendons, with the exception of the thumb. These divisions appear at the tendon in most species except ungulates, where the fleshy head divides before giving way to the tendons. These tendons extend to the tips of the fingers, passing over the dorsal surface of the tarsus, metatarsus, and phalanges before attaching to the extensor process of the distal phalanx.
