Atlas of anatomy of the male pelvis and reproductive system

Atlas of anatomy of the male pelvis and reproductive system

Introduction

This e-Anatomy module contains seventy-nine illustrations dedicated to the anatomy of the male pelvis and genital system.

These fully annotated anatomical illustrations are presented as a comprehensive atlas of the male reproductive system, specifically designed for medical students, residents and healthcare professionals.

Material and methods

Seventy six illustrations have been created, covering the general anatomy of the male pelvis and gonads, the pelvic girdle with the muscles of the pelvic diaphragm, the urinary system (ureters, urinary bladder, and male urethra), the internal male genital system (testicles, duct system including the vas deferens, ejaculatory duct and urethra), the external male genital system (penis, scrotum), the blood supply of the pelvis, the lymph nodes of the male pelvis and the innervation of the pelvic cavity and perineum.

An emphasis has been placed on McNeal’s zonal anatomy of the prostate gland used for the PI-RADS classification for prostate cancer on MRI.

These original anatomical illustrations with the text labeling (using the Terminologia Anatomica 2) were done by Antoine Micheau M.D. (Radiologist, Montpellier – France).
