Medial vastus muscle

Musculus vastus medialis

Definition

Origin: Proximal fifth of the femur on the intertrochanteric crest cranially. Medially on the line for the vastus medialis and somewhat farther distally, on the proximal portion of the medial lip.

Insertion: Tibial tuberosity.

Action: Extension of the stifle joint and tension of the fascia cruris.

Nerve: Femoralis
